The Power of His Resurrection (1)

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death – Phil 3:10

It’s Easter season and everyone is going on about what it means to them, for some it’s the Easter eggs and presents, for others it might be the family gathering or even the religious significance that makes it special. But whatever the reasons are for celebrating or not celebrating Easter, one thing is apparent; it is a time of reflection about the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

From our text today, Paul the Apostle was not satisfied to just know Jesus as a person, but also to know the power of His resurrection, what is it about the power that must be known? It seemed that there was more about the resurrection of Christ that Paul was willing and ready to explore.

The first thing we will take a look at in this 3 part series is:

  1. The Power of Resurrection removes every limitation in getting to Jesus
When our Lord Jesus was on the earth, He was restricted by time and space, although he was a perfect man yet He could not be at more than one place at a time. So if you wanted healing for either yourself or a loved one, you had to physically go where He was in order to be healed. But there was one exception in the case of the Centurion who wanted healing for His servant. (Matthew 8:5-10).  He had revelation that while everyone wanted a physical touch, he could get the same physical touch by his faith so he asked the Lord to “only speak a word, and my servant will be healed (v8)” . Take a look at verse 10

“When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”.

Jesus had always campaigned for the children of Israel to have faith because when He was no longer present with them to be physically touched, they would still be able to touch Him by faith. Faith is the one thing that will be required to get anything they wanted from Him. This type of encounter was only suppose to happen after His resurrection.

The power of resurrection gives us access to the Father though Jesus by the Holy Spirit

For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. – Eph. 2:18. So today, we both (two individuals or the Jews and the Gentiles alike) now have access to the same God the Father, through Jesus Christ the Son by the power of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus had lived 2 thousands years on the earth, He would still not be able to touch every man physically for many reasons but by His resurrection, we can all touch Him today. And that’s one of the things the power of resurrection brings, it removes every physical limitation we have with the Son and the Father Himself.

God bless you.
