The Power of Two In Prayer

Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. – Ecclesiastes 4:9

The word of God is true, can be relied on and referenced anytime, any day. It doesn’t change. As it was written in the book of Leviticus, so it was cited by Jesus during His temptation with the devil and it worked. If the word says that “two are better than one”, I think we ought to pay close attention to it.

Our text today also gives us the reason for such bold statement; “Because they have a good reward for their labour”. What this tells me is that when two people who are in agreement over a thing, regardless of what it is they have a reward and their reward is good. It doesn’t say that they will have their reward, they already have it, whether they see it or not is a different thing but they have their reward because of their labour together.

So let’s take that into prayer and read the scripture like this “Two people who pray together are better than one who prays by himself, because they (the two of them) have a good reward for their labour of prayer”. I don’t get to pray with my wife all the time but whenever I get to, I make the best of it and the reward is always better than my own individual prayer.

We should not put ourselves in a place where we think because of the hand of the LORD upon our lives or our anointing we can do all the praying ourselves. Yes, individual prayers are necessary and important but two are still better than one. The following scripture sums it up for us nicely:

Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. – Matthew 18:19

Our Father in heaven honours the prayer of agreement offered to Him by two people, the Lord Jesus promised us here that our heavenly Father will do for them anything that they ask for; “their reward”. Even if the prayer is just for one of them and the answer goes to just that one, the reward is for both of them. Do not under estimate the power of praying together.

Do not underestimate the power of praying together

If you don’t have someone you can call on to agree with you in prayer, I recommend that you prayerfully find one, make sure they have the same mind as you and that you are comfortable praying together with them.

I agree with you today that the LORD will grant you that desire you have been waiting for in Jesus name. Amen.

God bless you.
